I noticed that catamaran sailing was highly recommended by visitors when I collected information of Cuba trip. The English word “catamaran” was from Tamil word “Kattumaram”, means variety of twin-body boats. What the visitors recommended is a kind of large catamaran that can carry twenty or thirty people.
I had been looking forward a day trip of catamaran sailing from the time I arrived Varadero. Due to the weather, I had to rescheduled the trip again and again until the day before I came back Canada.
Woke up that morning and looked at the sea from the balcony, I wished it would be a good weather. About eight o’clock in the morning, a bus took the visitors from hotels to the port. Many boats were waiting there quietly in dawn light. There were two soft sundecks made of special woven material in front-end of the catamaran. Some tourists were lounging above.
Our catamaran slowly approached the sea. The weather changed quick. It became overcast and began raining when we were on the sea. Wind was so cold that we all hid back in the cabin. Just a short period later, rain stopped, sunshine lighted up our sundecks.
A deep-sea fishing boat appeared in front of us. Deep sea fishing is also a tourism project, not cheap. A little while later we were able to see our destination, a small island in the sea. It has a nice name Cayo Blanco.
Catamaran slowly moved into a small green enchanted bay. The bay was very calm. Some tourists put on swimsuit and swam in the water. Due to low temperature, water was quite cool.

Out of the green bay, we arrived Cayo Blanco. It is said that the beach here is the best of Varadero, fine white sand like flour. We had a free lobster buffet lunch on the island. The weather became bright sunny when we were about to leave.

Leaving Cayo Blanco, we were on the way back to Varadero. Sails were risen up on all catamarans. The showtime of sailing was begun.
