A big event is coming tonight in Toronto, the Nuit Blanche 2013. A total of 112 art projects will show up in central area of downtown Toronto. The Nathan Phillips Square in front of Toronto City Hall will be a hot spot.
The first Nuit Blanche Toronto was held in 2006 sponsored by Scotiabank. Since then, more than 850 art projects created by nearly 3,500 local, national and international artists were showcased.
The Nuit Blanche Toronto 2013 will start tonight, from sunset to sunrise, and will last till October 27. Perhaps the most exciting art project for this event will be the Forever Bicycles of Ai Weiwei, a world-renowned Chinese Artist. The new edition of Forever Bicycles sculpture has been mounted in Nathan Phillips Square. 3,144 bicycles were connected into a three-dimensional structure forming an incredible visual effect.
The title “Forever” is the foremost bicycle brand in China. Ai re-interprets the everyday object to build a complex and abstract sculpture representing the rapidly changing social environment in China and around the globe.
