The New Credit First Nation is located near the Six Nations in Brantford in south-central Ontario, Canada. The New Credit belongs to Ojibway Nation, part of the largest Aboriginal Nation in North America. They have nearly 2,000 people and half of the population live on-reserve.
The New Credit First Nation Pow Wow was held in the weekend from August 23rd to 24th this year. Unlike the Six Nations Grand River Pow Wow, the New Credit Pow Wow is not a competition but simply traditional dancing and gathering. Visitors were invited to join their dances during a period of the event. As many pow wows execution, all guests, participants and visitors are expected to show proper Pow Wow etiquette and subscribe to the rules and protocol that the pow wow circuit follows. The annual event has taken place since August of 1987, and has become an integral part of the New Credit First Nation community.
