The Nikon D700 is a professional grade
full-frame digital SLR camera introduced in July 2008. It uses the same 12.1
megapixel FX CMOS image sensor as D3, and is Nikon's second full-frame digital SLR
camera.
The sensor of Nikon D700 allows the use of
DX Format lenses. When a DX lens is mounted, only a DX-sized portion of the sensor
is used. Nikon D700, D3X, D3 and D3s are the only Nikon digital SLR
models manufactured in Japan.
